‘THE MAGIC ROUNDABOUT’ was created in France in 1963 by Serge Danot, the 441 programmes were originally broadcast on ‘Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française’ (ORTF) between 1964 and 1971, in it’s original language of French. The animations were re-scripted and the voiceovers re-recoreded in English by Eric Thompson, some of which didn’t relate to the original storylines at all, hence the hallucinogenic feel to the programme – which, along with it’s dry humour, made the programme as popular with adults as it was with the children for whom it was created.
